Pet Insurance

We got pet insurance for our puppy, which feels mostly like a waste of money since it doesn’t cover routine vet visits, vaccinations or medication; but if your dog ever has any major issues (broken leg, kidney stones, swallows an entire stuffed animal whole and needs to have it removed, etc.), you’ll be glad you have it to cover the large vet bill.

Trupanion was the one recommended to us by our vet, but we have since learned that the coverage is not as good as some, because they treat every different condition as a separate deductible. Friends have recently recommended Healthy Paws, which applies one deductible per calendar year, so we’re going to look into switching to that one next year.
